Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how EquiEdge ("EquiEdge," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the EquiEdge mobile application (the "App") and the website at equiedge.xyz (the "Site"). EquiEdge is an AI-powered horse racing analysis tool for Australian thoroughbred meetings, operated as a sole trader business based in Victoria, Australia.

1. Information We Collect

EquiEdge doesn't ask for personal details. The data we handle is limited to:

• Subscription transaction data. When you subscribe to Pro, Apple processes the transaction through StoreKit. We receive a transaction identifier and subscription status from Apple so we can unlock paid features in the App. We do not see your payment card details or billing address.
• Usage analytics. The App records product metrics — for example, the number of analyses run, which features are used, and crash reports — so we can improve reliability and prioritise features. We look at it in aggregate.
• On-device preferences. Your App settings are stored in local device storage (UserDefaults) and never leave your device.
• Your EquiEdge record. We keep one record per user on our servers, under Apple's user identifier if you sign in with Apple, or a random guest identifier if you don't (merged into your Apple record if you sign in later). It holds your weekly race meeting analysis count (used for the free Basic limit of 5 a week), your subscription status and App Store transaction identifiers, push notification tokens, Apple Search Ads attribution data and basic product usage events. We don't store your name, email address or payment card details on our servers.
• Basic Site logs. Our hosting provider retains standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request timestamp) for security and abuse-prevention purposes. These logs are automatically purged on a short rolling window.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

To be explicit, we do not collect any of the following:

• Your name, date of birth, or home address.
• Your location (GPS or otherwise).
• Contacts, photos, calendar, or any other device data outside the App itself.
• Your browsing history on other apps or websites.
• Advertising identifiers (we don't use the IDFA).
• Betting account credentials, TAB logins, or any bookmaker data.

3. Third-Party Services

EquiEdge uses a small number of third-party services to deliver the product:

• xAI (Grok API). Race analysis requests are sent to xAI's servers. The content of these requests is limited to publicly available race data (track names, runner fields, form data, race conditions). No personal information about you is included. xAI's handling of this data is governed by xAI's Privacy Policy.
• Apple StoreKit. Apple handles all subscription transactions, payment processing, and refunds. Their handling of your payment data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Site hosting. The Site is hosted by a standard infrastructure provider.

We only share information with these services to the extent necessary to operate the App and Site. We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data.

4. How We Use Information

We use the limited information we hold to:

• Verify your subscription status and unlock paid features in the App.
• Improve the App by understanding aggregate, anonymised usage patterns.
• Investigate bugs and reliability issues.
• Protect against fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Use.

5. Legal Basis for Processing

To the extent Australian privacy laws (the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles) or the EU GDPR apply to our processing, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Contract performance — to deliver the App and fulfil your subscription.
• Legitimate interests — to improve the App through anonymised analytics, and to protect against abuse.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We may disclose information only in the following narrow circumstances:

• To service providers acting on our behalf (e.g. xAI, Apple, our hosting provider) solely to operate the App.
• If required to do so by law, court order, or a valid request from a government authority.
• To protect the rights, property, or safety of EquiEdge, our users, or the public.
• In connection with a sale or transfer of the EquiEdge business, in which case we will notify users beforehand if personal data is transferred.

7. International Data Transfers

Because xAI's servers are located in the United States and other jurisdictions, race-analysis requests are transferred outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure those transfers are subject to appropriate contractual and security safeguards.

8. Data Retention

We keep data only for as long as it's needed for the purposes described above, or as required by law. Anonymised analytics are kept indefinitely because they cannot be linked back to you. Subscription records are retained for the period required by Apple and Australian tax law. Your EquiEdge record is kept while you use the App. Email us to have it deleted. Push notification tokens are kept for up to 90 days.

9. Children's Privacy

EquiEdge is rated 17+ on the App Store and is not intended for use by anyone under 18. The App contains gambling-related content and must not be used by minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at equiedgeai@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.

10. Your Rights

Under Australian privacy law (and, where applicable, the EU GDPR), you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal obligations.
• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or your local supervisory authority.

11. Cookies and Site Tracking

The Site does not use cookies for advertising or analytics and does not run cross-site trackers. No cookies are used for profiling.

12. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect the limited data we hold. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users and the relevant authorities in accordance with our obligations under Australian law.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be signposted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
